The story of Jonah is one of the most well-known and most unusual passages in the Biblical Old Testament. In a basic sense, it is the story of a reluctant prophet who avoids his call to give prophecy. God punishes Jonah by having a large fish or whale swallow him whole, but Jonah is later reconciled and forgiven.
